Hello everyone, just joined up yesterday. I'm new to citrus, started this year in Jan. I'm new to citrus but I have a long history of having a green thumb and love plants of just about any type. I'm happy to report (due mainly to this forum) that I don't have any citrus problems (just knocked on some wood).

I live on the NC/SC state line in S. Charlotte, NC. All my plants are on a South facing apartment balcony until next spring when our house will be ready.

I am going to jump right in and try to post a few pics of my current collection.

My Meyer's purchased at Lowes for $19.95 with 11 ping pong to golf ball sized fruit on it when purchased.

My Satsuma also purchased at Lowes for $19.95, two small fruit attached.

My Meiwa purchased on-line that I paid way to much for...

I hope to be able to contribute but as new as I am to citrus I think for sometime I will mostly be looking for help. From what I've read there is plenty of that to go around!

Glad to be a member, John

Hi John and welcome to the forum. Nice trees you have there. The Meyer & Satsuma look like they are cutting grown. The Kumquat I see in Lowes all the time for the same price ($19.95) They also have the Centennial Kumquat from time to time which has the variegated leaves.

Hi John, thanks for posting those nice pics. May I ask where you bought your 'over priced' Meiwa from?
And if I may borrow your post to ask a quest now that it's fresh in my mind.
Laaz...or anyone, what's the diff as far as potted plants, if they are grafted or taken from cuttings? I got 2 plants from EBay...meyers & Cara Cara that are from cuttings and they are doing well. The meyers has 5 fruits & doing better than my grafted. Both trees are about 18 - 22 " in height...small & bushy & very healthy. Thanks

Hello everyone, I got back to the office today and see I have some post to respond to.

To Westwood: I have been using Miracle Grow Azalea, Camellia, Rhododendron food every two weeks and Epsom Plus once a month or so. When the Miracle Grow is gone I plan to look for something closer to Millets suggestion.

To Laaz: I was wondering why I could not see a graft scar on the Lemon and Satsuma, that explains it. The Kumquat was $79.00, it was my first citrus purchase and did not know if it was a good deal or not. I think I need to make a trip to a Charleston Lowes, you are only 2.5 hours away. Oh well live and learn, next time I'm headed your way. The lowes up hear have had everything but Kumquats....

To Patty: Well as you can see I paid way to much as suspected. I got it from Ty Ty Nursery in GA, it is 3.5 feet tall. I looked them up on Garden Watchdog of course after I found this website and after I made the purchase, they are not listed. They were very helpful, shipped 1 day after I ordered, bare root. Overall the tree seems healthy, It is starting to put out 7 new stems down near (above) the graft line. It has started dropping dark green healthy leaves but from what I read this is normal sometimes when getting ready to put out new growth. Also I have bird feeders near and I think the birds are knocking some leaves off waiting their turn on the feeder.
