Thanks Skeet, however I LOVE catalogs. Myself, I never ever read them, not one, but my wife gets zillions of catalogs, and buys Christmas and birthday presents plus her personal wants through out the year. This eliminates the DREADFUL, DREADFUL, DREADFUL Christmas shopping. I'm not much of a fan of the Christmas/New Years holiday season. - Millet |

I don't go out shopping much myself, but do most of my shopping online. I can't stand the traffic and driving around looking for a parking space. We still do some shoping from catalogs, but the link I provided lets you eliminate just the catalogs you don't want and we get tons of catalogs we never buy from. _________________ Skeet

I love the season, but hate the materialism and covetous that it brings out in people. The real meaning of the season gets lost on the search for the latest "must haves" that get used for a brief period of time before becoming outdated and needing replacement with another "must have".
This Christmas my daughter was finally old enough to understand that it was a special holiday. There was nothing like plugging in the Christmas tree and having my daughter run in from her bedroom saying, "Ohhh daddy, it's beaauuuuuttttiffffullllll!". I wouldn't trade that response for any "must have". In fact, I pity those who had to settle for a measly X-box, Playstation, IPod, IPhone, blackberry, etc as a Christmas present.

Problem is once your kids get a little older they need the same games the kids down the street have. I probably have over 7-8 thousand dollars worth of video games in my house now....
Want to make a fortune ? Design a game system that will play all game formats... Every game system only plays their own games, and each game disc is $40-50 each...
Well they will be 18 before I know it.... _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Haa!! Remember ATARI? My Dad is an electrical engineer. When Atari came out, we faced the same problem with the expense of the games. He built an circuit board that would hold the integrated circuits (ICs). He had his group of cronies who would disect the Atari games, copy the ICs, and distribute them to the group. We had to have had a hundred games. As an adult, I recognize this for what it was . . . stealing; but for a 8 year old, it was quite an experience plugging in my ICs into the circuit board and into the Atari to play a game. We kept all of the ICs in a fishing tackle box and neatly labled (Frogger, PacMan, Pong, etc).
As far as my kids wanting the same games as the kids down the street, I'm sure that's true, but I've already told my kids that when they stop being cute and loving to their parents, I'm going to lock them in the closet until they are ready to move out of the house. No neighborhood kids to be a bad influence. |

Ha, forget video games, what about women's clothes? Men can buy a suit and a pair of shoes and use them all their lives, esp women in business spend a fortune with changing styles.
I'm so happy to be retired. Harry (my hubby) and I made a rule, If we can't go somewhere we can't wear our jeans, we won't go! _________________ Susan B

He he he . . . but it doesn't help when you're husband's waist line grows to a point that he needs new jeans. Just ask my wife about her husband's waist line and the new jeans that she just bought for him.
