Like Joe Real, we are trying to make the most of a small garden in Palo Alto, CA. Among our in-ground citrus are a Eureka lemon and a Seville orange which produce more fruit than we can consume. I've top-worked both using the method described in Joe Real's Tutorial. I was at the meeting in San Jose that he talks about.

I have successfully grafted Bearss lime, Algerian clementine, Nagami kumquat, Owari satsuma, and Yuzu.

On 5/29-30/13 I tried adding Australian finger lime and Kaffir lime. The grafts have been in place for a month. They remain green, but no buds have broken.

Owari satsuma and Yuzu grafted on 5/7-8/13 began leafing out about a month later. A second set of Yuzu from a different seedling that I know has set fruit was grafted on 6/5/13 and it is leafing out.

Have others had success grafting Australian finger lime and Kaffir lime? Might they be slightly less compatible or vigorous as scions?

I gathered all the scions myself and used them the same day or the next.

Thanks,

baumgrenze

I don't think you have waited long enough. As long as they are still green, they can still grow. Although admittedly in a very different climate, I have had grafts only grow after more than a year.
Scion/rootstock incompatability shows as poor long-term growth rather than initial inability for the graft to take in the first place.
Someone may correct me on this, but I think all citrus can be grafted on to any other citrus variety or species. Not all then go on to thrive.

Meiwa kumquat on Swingle is almost impossible but on Troyer very high percentage.

I might agree if you are talking about t-budding. Try chip budding for 100% take on either.

Swingle has a tendency to overgrow most orange scion cultivars. Swingle is incompatible with Eureka lemon and is not recommended for Imperial mandarin due to cincturing and overgrowth at the bud union. It is incompatible with Meyer lemon.( This is from citrus pages just as am example of incompatibility.)
