Hi there anyone know what these white dots on my Thai lime could be???
Also my buddha hand is looking quite sickly and is down to his last two leaves i have given him a epsom salt application and some iron chelates to the soil also about 2-3 weeks back. Could it just be he doesn't like the cold and very rainy winter weve being having???

According to Purdue University, and according to UCR, "sunburn" through drops of water, the so called lens effect, does not exist. At one time I also belived in the "lens effect", but with the uncountable number of observations after spraying the foliage of my 80+ citrus trees, (both container and in ground trees) I have long ago discarded the "theory". - Millet (841-) |

What is your opinion of the leaves in the first two pictures? I have a Kumquat with a few leaves showing those tiny dots as well. |

I agree. Sounded like some myth to me. |

Well if its not lens effect then any ideas what could be the cause? It seems to be over a quite a few of the leaves on the Thai lime but on none of the other citrus right next door There were some signs of what i thought to be spider mites - a dust-like stuff on the underside of the leaf. Hmmmmm? |

The dots on your neighbor's tree and the ones on your tree are not related, and further they are not even the same plant. Much of the condition of your neighbor's tree is due to being on the tree all Spring and Summer and now that it is going into Fall the leaves are old and ready to check out. Any way your comparing apples to oranges. I am not sure what the cause of the white spots on your citrus leaf are due to, but such dots are extremely common. I see them on some of my trees here in Colorado. My guess is that they are environmentally caused. Certainly nothing to worry about. - Millet (838-) |

I've had an idea for this mysterious white dots on my Thai Lime. In between my citrus plants i had planted some Arugula (rocket) which is a salad green. Most of these plants when they get to a large size get covered in what i have learned is "White Rust" which seems to be the exact same sort of patterning as the blemishes on my citrus. Is this possible?? |
