Hello Everyone.
I am Taylor and i typically hang out at the Bananas.org forum. I know JoeReal from there, but haven't talked to him yet. I know that he is an excellent grower. I am new and only had a few Citrus trees. I would like to buy a few more, or trade for some. I love the site, it looks very handy!
Anyways, I can't wait to meet all of you.

Thanks guys!!! Right as of now, though, I do not have any citrus trees. My only Lime tree died from Jobes fert. spikes. And all of my others died in the winter. I am trying to get some new ones with real names now.
Anyways, thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome to the forum and you will find the friendliest and most helpful people here. You said that your citrus died during the winter but we need your location. Can you give us your state or climate zone?

Zone 8 is not normally a good citrus climate ,but looking at your local weather it would seem more like Zone 9. http://virginiabeachon-line.com/weather/weather.html
Maybe your problem with citrus in not climate as I initially suspected. Do you have good drainage for your citrus? I can tell you from experience that they do not like wet feet.
Could you give more details so that the knowledgeable guys here can help you?

Well, I had soil with part perlite, and then I put in a Fert Spike and it died within the week. Then, I over watered one of them, and then the last 3 I left out on a cold night and it frosted.
Thats about all I know about them. I dont know what type or anything. I just bought some limes and lemons to get the seeds from and grow. Not many sources around here. I would love to purchase one or 2 from someone who knows what they are talking about.
Thanks

Are your trees in containers? The reason that I ask it that you mentioned perlite. If they are in containers then you need to look at MilletÂ’s formula which uses CHC. I have tried it and I can tell you that it works very well. Do a search on container citrus and you will find MilletÂ’s receipt.

Taylor, Our last Citrus Expo was in VB. Go to the Citrus Expo section of this message board, and look through the posts under Citrus Expo 2006 to see some great citrus growing there.

WELCOME Taylor! I think I saw your posts at the banana forum, & Joe Real knows a lot about growing them. Nice to see you here.
I went to the last 2 citrus expo's-- last one being in VB. We visited a friend of Eyeckr's who has many inground citrus in his backyard there, & was kind enough to give all of us a tour. It was impressive to see many healthy citrus & tropicals growing inground that far north!
Sorry you missed the expo...& you are right there too! LOL _________________ Patty
