So I have about 15 Paw paw trees of varying sizes and types. This spring several of the put out new leaves and then proceeded to drop them. Currently they have no leaves at all...................One tree seem to do this after a late may frost.

question is,, what caused this and will the tree come back next year

thanks Frank

I don't know abour your PawPaws, but I had a buckeye tree that lost all leaves last summer in June due to the drought-- I thought it was dead, but it came out and even bloomed this spring.

You need to keep them out of direct sunlight until they are 2-3 tall.

did it get too dry? I've read if something is missing in their care, they will stop growing for the rest of the season. When spring rolls around, they start to grow again. I have only read this so please take it with some salt.

have you seen this?

and a ton of links here,

Thanks I did see these,
We had a wet spring and they all leafed out, then they quickly dropped all the leaves. All of the trees that did this were second year and ranged from sizes 3-6 feet.
