Last spring an old woman brought to me (from Adriatic Sea) small branch and a few loquat fruits.
I did the graft of loquat to medlar in attempt to save budwood
(photos taken today)

and have raised seedling

Next year I plan graft that with budwood above and plant it inground. I'm not expecting fruits in my hardiness zone but just in case...

I think your loquat looks much better than mine!-I purchased a loquat down in NC when we were there over the kids' spring break-probably zone 8a/b, as opposed to my 7a. It had 3 ft. of trunk, a few spindly leaves on top, & as soon as I brought it home, it started getting eaten up by bugs. My friend says it will never winter outside here, but I don't know if I'll have space to drag it inside. I'm thinking about planting it in a front S/E raised bed & hope that it overwinters...

I got told too Wink

Grafted Loquat is on the north-east side of the yard, no neighbours there (no adjacent buldings), no winter protection at all.
Last winter min temp was -9.3 C.
