This isn't the greatest idea and should only be used in an emergency. Thses are not exactly CHC's but they are from coconut husks. These are the fiber pots that you find in the Dollar stores. Just buy the plain liner without the fancy wire basket. You can either shread these or cut them up into 1/4 pieces. If you shread them they end up lookin like a cat had a fight with a bad wig. This is very labor intensive and expensive in the long haul but seems to work for 1 or 2 plants. I bought 8 12" liners for 1 ailing plant. They were $1 each at our local Dollar store.
Soak the cut or shreaded pieces the same as you would the regular CHC's, then plant as usual. I would cut the fiber pots rather than shreading them as I did. I mixed the resulting mess with the bark medium I have been using and then planted the tree.
The whole reason behind this was that the bark medium was staying too wet. After 2 weeks since watering the meter still was saying very wet within 2" of the top of the soil. Now there is enough bark medium to hold a small amount of water and the fibers keep it brom becoming too water logged. This worked for me and may work for those who have a problem with the medium staying too wet.
