I'll be putting more flagstones to connect our patio space to the front along the side. I have built foundation and poured already 1 cubic yard of concrete. 2 more cubic yards of concrete to go and then flagstones assembled piece by piece over it. I surprised myself at the precise calculation that the amount of concrete was exact in the first pouring on the mold that I prepared, with not a single drop to spare nor lacking.

Anyway, I'll be very busy for the next eternity. . . . Doing flagstones again, as my wife had commissioned me to do. I will sneak out every now and then, now that I have wireless repeaters in the entire yard.

Joe:
Do you need to put the flagstones on concrete?
Will on top of sand will do?

We love the flagstones as decorations on the concrete. Our friends tried using sand, even gravel, and through time they sink if the soil is clay, and even if you place commercial weed block underneath. Concrete is very good for us, we didn't have any cracks on the flagstones and concrete so far. Our neighbor who used free-way grade rebars on concrete that is 8 inches thick has developed major cracks on their concrete patio.

So far, I have finished about 800 square ft of Patio flagstones on concrete. The new project cover just a total of 160 square ft.

Did you buy a ready made concrete or you have to mix them yourself?
The reason why I am asking is I also have a project in mind when my kids are on vacation.

Well, the concrete company delivered the cement mixer loaded with 1 cubic yard ready to pour quick concrete. I was given two hours to unload them or else the price will double. It took me and Val just an hour to unload one cubic yard, cart them off using wheelborrows and screed them in place. Another hour was spent cleaning up the mixer, the drippings to the driveway and the street, the tools and wheel borrows. I love it, I perspired a lot. I looked like an NPA rebel with a towel band around my forehead, Twisted Evil

Heh-heh.
Good for you. We need exercise.
We don't do that like that here.
We have to pick up the ready made concrete and return the container ourselves.
But I was thinking if I ordered gravel and sand and I buy the mortar at HD, I can take my own time doing it.
But you have advantage doing your way.
