That's excellent size. Happens when you have few fruits on a very mature tree. We can even get bigger sizes than that, depending on cultivar.
I once had a satsuma the size of a grapefruit, but then there is plenty of air between the flesh and the peels. But some of my satsumas can get a good size but filled normally instead of air. Also the tree tends to be alternate year bearers. Those years with low fruit sets will produce very big fruits. |

Normally the larger satsuma are not good quality. |

I have a couple of Tahiti limes that produce fruit that are enormous relative to the size of the same variety of fruit available in the grocery store. Last year they were as big as any Meyer lemon I've seen. I'm sure when the trees grow larger and hang on to more of their initial fruit set their size will decrease, but for now they are some mighty big limes.

I agree with Bonnie. The best fruit on the tree are the smallest sized fruit, more juice & better flavor. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

From my yard, it is the medium sized fruits which are packed with excellent flavor. The smaller ones really tend to develop duller colors, sometimes getting stuck at yellow green, and are very sour and they don't hold well on the tree long enough and they fall off. I have observed this with my Satsumas and Clementines. |
