I have just 3 Ruby Reds on my lemon tree, so I don't want to do any test picking-- when is the best time to pick them?

They're ok here, now. I'd think in your climate they might be a bit later.

Thanks Malcom-- they are turning, but only about half way so far--- I think I will try one in a couple weeks.

Skeeter please post a picture of your Ruby Reds on your lemon tree. How did the Rio's taste? Maybe I can plant one giant tree and have a limb of this and a limb of that!

Hi Sunrise,
I tried to reply to the question about the size of my Ruby Red on the other thread, but for some reason it kept going to Explorer's no connection response. Anyway, I will post a picture of the remaining 2 later today. The One I picked was also about softball size, but the limb (grapefruit part of the limb) is only about 6 inches. It bloomed as soon as the T-bud broke. The one I picked was good tasting, full yellow on the outside with a few pink spots where it was touching other fruit and a nice pink inside.

I am nowhere near Joe's, record which is somewhere near 60 varieties on 1 tree, but I do have at least a dozen now on my lemon tree. Actually, I have over 20 varieties on 7 trees now--it is a great way to spread out your production.
