I noticed in a store while buying citrus, that pots with kumquats stand in plates filled with water. Does it mean, that kumquat roots are more resistant to extra water or is this only negligence?

You would do the store a service to instruct the store on how to properly care for their citrus trees. l suspect lazy employees. - Millet

I agree with Bob. Plus those kumquats are probably not growing on their own roots. And as far as I know, there is no citrus rootstock tolerant to constant flooding. Under all circumstances flooding causes root growth to stop and the existing root system to decay and eventually die.

Be smart and don't buy such plants if you don't have to! Laughing

Best,
Igor
