The past few days I have been going into 'full citrus protection mode'. The weather forecasters are calling for arctic air to spill out onto the coast overnight Saturday and hang around much of the week I placed 2 strings of the large Christmas lights on my Meyer lemons and have them covered with a 6' tall portable greenhouse. ( I tried to find a string of yellow frosted bulbs to add to the effect
but substituted with red ) anyway, Temperature is expected to bottom out Tuesday and Wednesday at 19f - the problem being the highs are only going up to 28 those days. The hardy stuff should do ok without heat - but I dont think I will risk it......
Additionally, i set up a another larger portable greenhouse in my garage where I placed as much of my potted citrus as possible. I am going to place a oil filled radiant heater in there to see if I can get some growth happening this winter.
Seasons Greetings i guess
Cheers, Greg
