Joe:
I am beginning to think that I would rather have a full tree than grafted a branch of another kind to a citrus.
First a full tree would give you a rather many fruits on your first or second year of fruiting whereas a grafted variety you'll only have a branch of fruit to contend with.
Take for instance the clemenure you gave me since last year it just grew so big that I have now a bunch of fruits on it whereas the citrus that we budded last year and 2 years ago still are struggling to have a fruit or so in its branch.
An exception is my Japanese plums and green gage plums. The green gage just took over over the mother japanese plums so much to my delight. Green gage are so very sweet it is becoming my favorite plum. In turn I went hogwild grafting them to so many of my other plum trees.
