Go Boston Bruins, take the cup. Absolutely any hockey team in the entire league except the city of Chicago. - Millet

Just a question but why does Boston get to play the playoffs while they ended at fifth place in the league? The SC is to determine the final league winner I thought or am I missing something here? Embarassed

I agree go Bruins!

Sven, the Stanley Cup playoffs involve the top 16 teams from the regular season. More or less the goal is to determine the team that is playing the best hockey at the end of the year.

There is a separate award (the President's Trophy) that is awarded to the team with the best overall record from the regular season. This year, Chicago won this trophy, but nobody really cares too much about this award.

The big prize is to win the Stanley Cup.

Thanks for the explanation! I would be more interested in the Presidents Trophy myself. You play a whole season and you are rewarded for the position you get at the end. Sounds more logical than the Stanley Cup to me. Smile
Could be because this is how it works for soccer here and I am used to it that way.
