Ivica, you write the lemons were brought to the Hinterland of Dubrovnik ...

From WHERE ???

Dubrovnik ?

I think the original trees would be the most important at that subject ...

Sanguinello,
the lemons were brought from a hinterland of Dubrovnik to Sisak area.
That was 50+ years ago.
The man who brought them in Sisak passed away a few years before my find of the lemon.

What a pitty !

Nevertheless it would be worth to look around in the Hinterland of Dubrovnik and ask people about Lemons that can be harvested after 3 years ... or about very cold hardy lemons ...

I know you are mod in a Croatian Forum about exotic plants, did you get from there any respond ?

Hinterland of Dubrovnik is surely interesting location for citrus (re)search.
Islands too, you know that we have a few ... Laughing
This year I am collecting info about a četrun citrus from an island, that tree supposedly can also keep fruit for a 3 years...

I'm not mod in a Croatian Forum about exotic plants, occasional visitor only.
Members there are mainly palmoholics, 2 other citruholics from that forum are also members here.

BTW: Just drinking lemonade of Verna + Primofiori + Siscia lemon.
Siscia lemon fruit is 13 months old, only 2 seeds, none green Think

Aha, sorry for my error !

Interesting .. maybe that is an dalmatian speciality.

Funny, I gave Adriano seeds of PrimoFiori and Verna when he visited me ... so all he needs is the Sisak lemon to have same drink as you .. Smile

I guess he will be at his island now ...

I planted seeds a couple of days ago. Hope they grow to adult trees. Star ruby and 2 red oranges are still on the balcony. They progress quickly.
taroco orange already had one flower, moro has many fruits. I will plant them in ground in august.
I am leaving to Šolta today to check out my citrus friends.

I owe you a ton of information, let me do it in a Dr Who manner - flying through timespace up and down all over (i.e. it will take some time Wink ):

December 2013:
Elephant Foot of PT rootstock:

In front of thermometer is Mayer L. grafted last summer, a bit above Kabosu leafs could be noticed - grafted in summer 2012.

The lemon is still active:

I took about a half of crop for Christmas use (gifts, cakes).
Those were silver and yellow-green fruits, a 7 months old.

October 2013:
A 5 months old fruit

The tree

More to come...

Although I did bark graft 4.5+ years ago graft line is still visible due to different bark texture:

Grafting on cranked branch was intentional, hoped for a dwarf effect
