I just read an article on Pebble Bed Reactors. They are air cooled rather than water cooled so they don't need all of the redundancy and construction of a conventional water cooled plant. It's also safer since you don't have the threat of a nuclear meltdown.

Uranium, like fossil fuel, may soon be depleted. Good to see that China is using it, would be fun to watch. So far safety records are excellent in Africa.
