I thoroughly enjoyed the parts of the meeting I was able to be part of. It was great to renew friendships and make some new ones as well. Thanks to all of you who had a part in making it happen.

Malcolm, did Bob Duncan speak at the 2011 meeting? He is our local citrus Guru from Vancouver Island. The last time we spoke he was planning to talk about his success with Meyer lemons. For whatever the reason they do really well here in our climate. (albeit " really well" is a subjective term) as winter protection is critical for most, if not all citrus.... I am hopping to find a variety that will survive with little or no intervention. Perhaps a citrumelo or something like a sudachi ?

Greg, the Duncans were at the Expo and Bob did his presentation on Thursday night at the Citruholics Banquet. I know you remember that event from your visit to S.C. two years ago. The Duncans are super people and I really enjoyed touring Central Florida with them on the bus. Dr Manners and Ryan Attwood lined up the best Expo I have ever attended.... and Ive been to them all! The whole thing from start to finish was just spectacular! You missed the all time, absolute, max...in Citrus Expos.. The meyer lemon production in Vancouver is almost unbelieveable.. but the proof is in the pudding and those picture with fir trees and snow in the background and lemons in the forefront dont lie! lol.. _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

I agree with Stan. This was the best expo to date, and will be a hard act to follow. Dr Manners, Ryan Atwood, and all of the other folks that helped put together this event, deserve a big vote of thanks for a very informative and memorable event. Just wish more citraholics could have made it. |

Hershell, you know I would not dare bring scion wood out of Florida with all the canker, greening and other diseases they have! LOL... Now seed, might be another subject? Pretty observant of you to notice my hand in my pocket! LOL... YOu missed a great Expo.. Hopefully next year you can be a part of it. _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

All,
This was the best citrus expo! Many thanks to Dr. Manners and Ryan Atwood. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed meeting old friends and new. The citrus tasting was excellent- great to sample so many of the unreleased varieties. I thought Sugarbelle, 14/45 and the lem-lime-orange hybrid tasted great- as well as many of the pummelos. I look forward to the next meeting. |
