Hi everyone,

I just bought two little bitty Kaffir Lime Trees to add to my Thai cooking collection.

I already grow Lemon Meyer trees, Lemonquat trees and a Mexican Lime tree so I'm ok with their needs but since I only care for the leaves of the Kaffir Lime tree I'm wondering if I need to do something different than I would for my other trees?

Also because it's so little would it benefit from placing it in a larger pot? I know my Lemon Meyers like to be root bound a bit but I thought that was only to encourage fruit production.

Thank You!

Firstly, are they seedlings or grafted ? Either way, moving very small trees into over large pots may not be wise, as the volume of pot mix may stay too damp without a good size plant to utilize some of the water. On the other hand you need to push the plants to gain size and produce leaves, which you will be removing ( frequently ?) for use in Thai cooking. I would pot them up in steps as they get bigger, rather than suddenly upsizing. Also housing them in a warm growing area and keeping up with fertilizing may allow a more continual growth pattern for leaf production.
