I'm fairly new to citrus "farming" but being obsessive-compulsive helps Wink

Currently switching over my hobbies from reefing (keeping sw fish and corals) to gardening and growing citrus trees in particular.

I have an Improved Meyer's Lemon, Eureka Lemon, and Calamondin trees at present (all with fruit). The IM & Eureka are rescues from the local nursery which had received a bad shipment of lemons from their supplier. Fortunately for me, they worked out a credit with their supplier and then contacted me to come pick up the trees they were able to save for 50% off. Yeah!!!! So I picked two of the healthiest trees and the buds that were present have turned into 4 lemons on the IM the size of a Key Lime and Eureka has 7 fruits about that size with several more babies just starting.

They were both in a portable greenhouse for most of the summer, although I pulled out the Eureka when it got hot around here in August. It is now sitting on my deck since the rains have started. Both have put on a lot of growth and new leaves and I now couldn't tell that they were near death just a few months ago.

The leaves on the Eureka have a bit of yellow, which I assume means I need to add some fertilizer/additives soon. Any recommendations?

The Calamondin has lots of fruit, both orange and green. The green ones my mom swipes for her cooking (we're Malaysian) and I've been eating the orange ripe ones off the tree. They are tart at first bite, but then have a sweet, very citrusy finishing flavour. Very refreshing.

Sorry for the long post. Glad I found this site.

BTW, my screen-name is from my decades of sw keeping and yes, I love seahorses and have kept several over the years. NO, I do not recommend them as pets since they are very labour intensive pets, requiring target feeding with defrosted mysis shrimp several times a day. ie. no holidays.

I have my degrees in Aquaculture, AgriBusiness & Aquacultural Engineering but am working as an academic tutor so I can work, pay bills, and still be a stay-at-home-dad to my two little girls (Felicia 3, and Isabella 3 months).

Cheers,

Anthony

Have already learned lots and plan to continue the life-long learning process. Thanks for being such a great online resource for us zone-deniers. Wink
