This is the first time I have ever had this problem, but many of my Miewa kumquats are splitting. I think 3 months of drought followed by several days of heavy rain was jut too much--now there are hundreds of kumquats that are splitting.

Skeet, that is very unusual indeed. In all the years I have been raising and studying citrus, I have never seen, or even heard of a kumquat that split. When your trees were going through a period of drought, I assume you must have been watering them - Millet (387 ABO-)

I noticed one of mine had split last week although it may be many more. I'll try to look at mine tomorrow if it quits raining.

EDIT: I checked and did not find anymore splitting. Where this tree is it does not get the same watering that my others do.
