Gasoline in my area is now at $3.79 per gallon. In many areas gas is above $4.00 a gal. My hope is that gas stays high until after the election. - Millet (286 BO-) |

Unfortunately I believe that Little O (Big O is Oprah) will tap into the reserves right before the election and drop the prices down substantially. I also believe he will pull some smoke and mirrors to give a struggling economy the appearance of a sustained recovery.

My opinion of this man is so low, nothing I can add will be fit for this forum. I have done my research on him and he seriously one of the last people on earth that should be running this country. All one needs to know about him is to research the people he decided he wanted to associate with in his life, the people he looked up to, the belief system he was around in childhood and his actions as POTUS make perfect sense. |

Gasoline prices are a worldwide problem, it's not just in the US.
Don't complain just yet... here in Belgium we pay about 1.6 for one liter of gasoline, or about 6 / gallon! In US$ that's probably an even higher number!
Blame it on the chinese, they use all the resources in the world! _________________ - Marc

MGT, you well know why gas is always high in Denmark --it pays for the countries social policies. - Millet |

I boils down to one simple question... Is this country better off today than it was 4 years ago ? Most everyone agrees, it's time to do away with the welfare system set up for government officials. They want this new healthcare plan, fine as long as they are required to use it as well. Term limits & no more free paycheck once they leave office. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

High gas prices are caused by high oil prices.
High oil prices are caused by commodity traders, uncertainty in the Middle East, price speculation, etc- not by executive decision.
International members of this forum pointed out that gas prices are going up everywhere.
These are all things that Obama has no control over.

Oil is subject to the laws of supply and demand like everything else, the President has a direct impact on supply via energy policy, he has a direct impact on the currency that oil is denominated in, he some control over the taxes on fuel in this country and he has control over the refineries in this country through the EPA. To say he has no control ignores all of the above. |

Ccanceling the construction of Canada's Excel pipe line certainly was not a helpful move. The Excel pipe line would have gone a long way to keep the supply and price of gasoline in better stead for years to come. - Millet (292 BO-) |

Or we could simply drill our own oil. One only needs to look at the long term chart of Natural Gas to see the impact of increased supply through exploration. There is a lot of oil here and those that say it won't have an impact lie. But turning our noses up at oil from a direct neighbor and ally was utter foolishness. In both cases, not only do we lose out on the oil, but the wealth and job creation from such projects would be far reaching for our economy. |
