I received the oro blanco from Pacific Tree Farms last week (not real impressed, more later) and my CHCs had not arrived yet, so I potted it in some of my regular very good soil mix during the holiday, because I didn't want it to go too long before potting. Well, my CHCs came in yesterday and I will have them at the house this afternoon. So the tree has been in the pot with soil for 4 days.

Here's the question. Should I go ahead and repot in the CHCs or would that be too much for the tree? How long should it stay in the soil mix before I can repot?

No doubt, some folks will disagree but I'd go for re-potting in chc's now. For 4 days the commercial mix has kept the roots moist but I don't believe that any real establishment has occured. No doubt it is in transplant shock and will be for a while, I'd use that window to get it into a preferred growing media. Misting, a plastic tent (out of sun) and out of weather extremes should help it re-establish. Good luck.

Casa. I picked up a Variegated Lemon this past week. It is still in a soil mix. Was going to let it acclimate a bit an have it dry a little

I made up new batch of CHC & Peat yesterday for some Coffee Plants that I had planted the day before in a soil mix

By letting it dry out a bit, You will have a better chance of less root damage, Unless you have a larger conainer to soak the entire tree an gently remove it Dale

OK folks, here's what I decided:

I agree with Joe that the tree has probably not done much of anything the few days it has been in the dirt so I think I will rinse all the dirt off the roots by immersing in a large bucket of water like Dale said and go ahead and put it in the CHCs. I will then put the pot out in the domehouse with the rest of them, but under the shade of the bananas so it doesn't get too much sun right away. I'm keeping the temp at or above 60 so it should be OK, plus with the vents closed it stays REALLY humid in there.

Wish me luck. I will post pix and comments on the tree shortly.
