This is really bad news. It is inevitable that all Citrus diseases will spread everywhere. Lets just hope that the scientist find management practices or cures before it decimates all Citrus. If it takes too long I can see where it will be illegal to own a citrus plant unless you are a licensed grower that conforms to a scheduled program of management. Of course that will come with mandated inspections that the cost of will be passed on to growers and then the consumer. The alternative is there will be no Citrus industry within the USA and all of our Citrus produce will be imported.
Finding this in New Orleans is like a bridge pylon. It is from that spot that it will work its way to the next connection point. After enough pylons are in place the spread of diseases will take little time. Of course Im not just speaking of Cankor but Greening and who knows what else is lurking out there undetected ready to attack our Citrus Trees.

Another Pylon sunk!
It is physically impossible to inspect every container and shipment. How many do you think have already made through the border?

And then this. More grim news!

OFF TOPIC
I was quite shocked to see this. I was always of the opinion that a nice soak in the warm salty Gulf waters was good for wounds. Kinda scary!
