Color me confused. I thought I was interested in ordering some budwood from the Clonal Protection Program (CPP) list. Then, in the fine print, I found that it reads: "to any California nursery that completes the standard license agreement"

Can individuals interested in citrus qualify as a "California nursery?"

I am interested in Smith Red and Bream Tarocco blood oranges. I am also fascinated by the flavor differences in the satsuma strains I've tasted at Lindcove and at Gene Lester's place.

Can I actually order budwood as an individual, non-commercial grower?

The form also places 12 bud minimums on Foundation and Early Release budwood but does not mention the Screen House collection. The Foundation groves cannot be used this January. Might the CPP be interested in distributing lower bud minimum orders from the Screen House collections?

Thanks,

baumgrenze

The program is more forgiving for individuals. Order from the screenhouses only and I think you should be okay with the patented cultivars. But in case you want to sell grafted plants for commercial purposes I strongly recommend that you talk with the technology office for royalty payment arrangements about propagation.

I'm glad somebody posted this. I did send a request for application for licensing to CCPP today by email.

I did explain that any budwood I purchase will be for personal use only and not for commercial purposes.

I don't expect to place an order until August for September shipment, so I'm crossing my fingers I can get some of my order.

Since I am in Riverside county, I will choose the option to pick up at their site.

Any tips or suggestions on completing that licensing form would be great!
