Dear all,
I would really like to try to grow a Lime-tree. Could someone please send me some seed?
I tried before, but I received the seeds covered with fungi, so the did not grow.
I do live in Amsterdam....
Offcourse I would pay for the postal costs...
Thank you very very much in advance.. |

If your are both able to wait a couple of weeks longeer, I may have some seeds left over.
Because my Key Lime does set fruit and harvest will take a couple of weeks, but usually I have only one or two seeds per fruit..... and often none...
But I will look about, if you like and collect 'em. _________________ Eerh, hmm, uuuh, oooh, just guessing |

Key lime should have 5-6 or more seed per fruit. Key limes are about the size of Cal's. Limequats are often mistaken for Key limes. I have been harvesting Key limes for about a month now. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Steffen,
timing is perfect!
Wife's family lives in Mainz and will visit us late october.
Mother in law loves plants and can handle that (she is already in a search for a lime for me ).
If that is Ok I will PM their address.
Thank you! _________________

Sure! But not mine Maybe because bees are not indoors, so pollination isn't that good, so simply parthenocarpic fruits will develop, which are usually not that seedy as fruits from pollinated trees.
But I am more than sure, that I have a Key Lime.
Because I got that plant right from the Florida Citrus Arboretum, from a handled mother plant, which was exported as a virus free source for budwood.
So, I am sure to have a true Key Lime and I can realy differ Limes from other citrus.
Because I am able to differ Limes from Lemon by smell of the essential oils, by rubbing the leaf, so one can differ Sweet Orange from Sour Orange, Grapefruit from Pummelo.
And at least: The fruits are typical, the leaf is typical, the taste is typical... only the fruits have less seeds... but I am sure, to have two real Key Lime trees.

Go on!
Because as you live within the EU, do you want a rooted cutting, if I can do?
Maybe then it will take somewhat longer, but you have a bearing tree within two years.... _________________ Eerh, hmm, uuuh, oooh, just guessing |
