Those early flowering pomelo seedlings, they cannot bear fruit but perhaps they could donate pollen to fruiting trees. I am thinking of wild trees in a rainforest situation. where many seedlings remain stunted until the canopy opens. Maybe if mature pomelo trees dont disperse seeds very far, there may be some advantage to being a pollen source, for those plants that never reach maturity ?

Well, I've spent several hours scattering photos from boxes and drawers all around the house. My wife is not pleased, but I finally found what I remembered!!

Here is a one year old pummelo seedling with a single terminal fruit just forming. And again some months later. The next fruit was about twelve years later.
