I know this was discussed some yrs ago.. Well.. I've done it!! Granted they are not citrus but my luck during winter with my poor babies while I'm sick.. they are lucky if they are alive let alone.. So I've tried to develop a better orchard that will be dormant outside needing no extra care from me.. not to mention that I'll be headed to Cali in just a few weeks or so..
I'm just not sure how much the inverted bark graft reduces the size of the tree??? I did it on two "standard" trees a Cherry and an Ornimental Pear.
Also graftedd Bartlett pear, Johnathan apple, and moon glow pear to this Pear tree and grafted Another Cherry and two Plum to the Cherry tree.. Just wondering if the inverted bark graft will keep them below 20'? If so I can plant the infront of my house where it will have constant attention should anything be a miss with them..
There are power lines and the city will top my trees and want them removed... They have alreay taken a cottonwood ( I was alergic to so was happy to see go) and a maple and it was not a great loss as it was overly common on the street..
any way.. I was Showing a friend about inverted bark grafting and a few various other things and was embarased when I didn't have an answer to how much it would stunt the growth.. I'm keeping the cherry and the pear is going to a mutial friend of ours... would also like to be able to say where would be a good place to put the pear...
