I can't think of a single person I would give a citrus tree to as a gift. I gave a Reed Bros. patio orange as a gift one time and it was dead within 6 months, although knowing Reed Bros. it was probably just a seed grown rootstock tree anyway.

One of the citrus trees that I gave as a gift, I visit frequently. My visits have helped it stay health. It is in a pot and it would do better in the ground. Eventually this is what well need to happen if I ever stop visiting so frequently.

That's a good idea to visit and keep an eye on the tree. Unfortunately planting in the ground around here would be just as bad for the tree with an inexperienced grower as growing indoors in a pot.
