Marc, actually there is also another Saint Therese. Saint Therese of Lisieux. (also known as The Little Flower). VERY FEW saints are ever elevated to the level of a Doctor of The Church. But both saints Teresa's are Doctors of the Catholic Church. It is not be unusual to name an object after a favorite Saint, whether they were from ones own country or not. It happens all the time. There are many things in the United States named after both saints, and they both are European saints. - Millet (532-) |

As I am in the market for a lemon tree at the moment, I might just as well get a Santa Teresa. And as it happens, my preferred nursery has them in stock! |
My santa teresa arrived today. I'll have to wait until full darkness to see if it really is a santa teresa. If it glows, it's real! _________________ - Marc |

Here's an image of the plant right after unpacking it. It looks remarkably similar to any other lemon plant! The tag just reads "feminello", but the web site of the supplier anounces it as feminello Santa Teresa.
As for the clipping, I'm in Europe, so I guess that's a "no"...

Hummm, just says Femminello, that would scare me. A good supplier has a duty to put the exact varietal name of the tree. There are 3 or 4 varieties of Femminello. You really don't know what you have. It probably is a Santa Teresa, you really don't know. - Millet (522-) |

Santa teresa is the only feminello they list in their catalogue, and Bachès in France, where I got the tree from, is highly reputed, so I expect it really is santa teresa.
But I could still ask them if it really is... _________________ - Marc |

Mark, thanks of the reminder. It was four years ago. I have long given up on ever finding the Saint Michael Paperrind orange. In fact I even forgot about it. Going along with the same theme, I have been looking for various pineapple varieties. Other than the store varieties, they also seem to be hard to locate. Mark, if you ever run into Saint Michael tell the tree I am looking for it. Regards- Millet (521-) |
