Holy moly. That's a LOT of ponkans. My little Ponkan tree has finally recovered from dealing with Phytophthora. Thought I might lose it there for a bit, but it now has lots of small fruits. Still not ready to pick, yet, but all my trees are a bit behind due to being young. My Page has been outstanding this year, as the Clemnules. Really excited about my Ponkan, and In also have a Kiyomi tangor, so I'm going to try my hand at cross-pollination between the Kiyomi and the Ponkan, to see if I can come up with my own version of a Dekopon.

The tree is about 15 ft tall, the branches are hanging to the ground.

I found the Ponkan in a nursery, but they told me, the fruits get only really good in a tropical enviroment.

So I am not sure if I should order them ...

I am not in a tropical environment & Ponkan is one of my favorite mandarins. Excellent quality.

I'm also not in a tropical environment, and Ponkans do well here, as well. I'm really looking forward to ripe Ponkans this year, it will be my first crop. So, not going to judge the tree on this year's crop, but excited nonetheless, to get my first fruits this year.

Oh, well, the south of Spain is Mediterranean (sub-tropical) climate, not tropical, and much more like where I live Smile On the 40 degree latitude mark or thereabouts. So, that's why they do well here, then! Or, if you can replicate that in your greenhouse. Not sure if Millet is growing Ponkans, and Laaz' climate, although further north than 40 degrees, is more in the sub-tropical range than if you were at 40 degrees N on the United States' east coast area, where it would start to be approaching a more tropical environment, with higher heat and humidity into the summer months. Our dry season, like the south of Spain, is summer.

The citrus industry in spain is all at the coast where you always have high air humidity.
Yes, I know it is subtropically, but that was their word, not mine.

Ponkan decends from India, so I guess it really needs heat and I hardly can give that for more than 2-3 months.
