I saw the first leaf miner of the year this morning---it was on my Moro Blood Orange. It had already made it to pupal stage on some of the leaves. Time for the oil spray.

Has anyone in California found any leaf miners yet? After the hard freeze we had, I was hoping it would spell the end their destructive habits this year. I have my bottle of Spinosad still, but I don't want to have to use it.
Dare I say it, but I may have won the first round with the miners. I don't see anymore active trails on any of the new growth. I picked all of the infected leaves or killed the larvae and sprayed the kumquat tree with neem oil. The kumquat was the only tree with a fresh flush in progress that was likely to be attacked.
They're back again--short lived victory. I found some on one of my grafts and on one of my seedlings as well as on the kumquat-- I guess I missed a spot!
I picked the infected leaves and put them in a clear jar to see if any are infected with the predator I released last summer.
