Colorado got its first snow storm of the year two days ago, and then its second snow story yesterday. Glad summer is finally history. Millet (594-)

Igor, personally I like the winter season much better than summer. I live in the northern central part of the state, a rural farming district.- Millet (594-).

that's great but not for a lifetime in my opinion... i was reading recently about colorado's climate, and one thing that caught my eye was the fact it has mild, pleasant daytime conditions even during the winter months, which i think is fantastic. is that true or just another generalization? the one thing i dislike about the climate of colorado is, that it might freeze (at night) almost all year long. i prefer uniform distribution of temps throughout the year without large fluctuations in daily highs and lows.

We have had the first cool snap here in SE Texas already which is a month early. I'm always glad the cool weather and short days are over here. I like our 10 months of warm weather!

It is too cold here in zone 9 for me in winter. I want to live in zone 10 or 11 where there is very little or no cold weather. In these zones you can grow mangoes, avocado fruit, star fruit, lychees, passion fruit, bananas and many other frost sensitive plants. Right now is a good time to buy real estate in warm climate zones. Criminals like warm weather too though which is unfortunate. Citrus greening and laurel wilt may limit citrus and avocado cultivation, but there are so many other tropical fruit you can grow.

Can you imagine swimming in your outdoor pool in mid January? I can

there is no zone 11 in the whole u.s. mainland, or am i wrong?
i rather prefer snorkeling in tropical sea surrounded by coral reefs and hammerhead sharks in that time of year, however swimming outdoors in your own pool sounds almost as tempting as diving... Razz

Not many areas in zone 11 in mainland USA but a lot of zone 11 areas near the equator. Zone 10 should be warm enough most years to grow subtropical and some tropical plants most years.

We're still in the 80's-90's. When I lived in the midwest, it seemed like summer always started and finished earlier than California did. I hate the heat, but my citrus sure love it.

On Monday it was 90 tonight there is a freeze warning, UffDah! Igot the citrus into my greenhouse and some into the garage and most of my banana's parked safely the rest come in tonight. I hate this time of year next week the temps will be in the mid to upper 70's with lows at night in the 50's.
