I am ordering several varieties of budwood from UCR's CCP Program. I noticed they indicated with the exception of the Meyers lemons, leaves will be stripped off the scion. Can I still use these to propogate from cuttings without top leaves? I thought they were needed for some bit if photosynthesis.

I do not have much rootstock to graft too and it is getting late in the season to be grafting and budding. So advice would be great, thank you for all your input.

For lemons & Citrons yes it will probably work. For other varieties it can become very difficult even if they had leaves.

Which varieties are you getting?

Genoa Eureka
New Zealand Lemonade
Yen Ben
Budhas Hand
Ponderosa
Dr Strong Lisbon.

I wish they had the Santa Teresa Femenillo still. Not available any more sadly.

Aside from the pink lemonade (which is one of the worst lemons I have ever had, but very pretty), which Im doing anyhow, am I missing any other good varieties? I have a beautiful Meyer's already.

Thanks for your help Laaz.

They should all root rather easy. Just a heads up, when rooting them do it in partial shade for better success.

Oh, and Fourwinds has the St. Teresa. http://www.fourwindsgrowers.com/store/mediterranean-lemon-trees.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=162&category_id=11

Planted them about 3 weeks ago and all the Meyers and Ponderosa have sprouted new growth in the perlite. The others appear to be a little slower, the Bhuddas hand buds started to grow mold, probably will lose them.
