Hi all, I recently bought a Meyer lemon and have a plain old curiosity question, I'm not worried about the tree at all as it seems to be doing great. I don't know if this is just a typical Meyer lemon thing, but about 2-3 percent of the leaves look like they have been torn. Is this something I need to address (bugs) or is it just from all of moving around before purchase? I have a pic below that came out a little blurry, but you can still make out the leaves in question at the center of the photo.

Welcome to the forum Ray. The damage you see is from either grasshoppers or the orange dog caterpillar. It looks like old damage, look closely at your tree to make sure there are no more pests on it. The orange dog looks like a piece of bird poop, but when you touch it it will stick a long tongue out.

Oh my God, those are ugly. I definitely don't have anything like that on my tree. Actually I didn't see anything at all. It probably is old damage like you said because I haven't had it happen to any more leaves, so maybe either the store or the nursery had a caterpillar and/or grasshopper problem.

It won't hurt to cut the few affected leaves off, right? That way it'll be easier to notice any new damage.
