I know there are similar topics on the forum, but, is there a palatable citrange out there? I am interested in expanding my collection and at this point I do not have any citrange plants. Any suggestions for hardier citrus varieties that are palatable?

***Improved Meyer Lemon -
***10 degree Tangerine
Yuzuquat
***St Anne Satsuma
***US 119 (hybrid)
Pummelo X (citrus grandis X poncirus trifoliata)
Thomasville citrangequat
Oro Blanco grapefruit
Eureka lemon
***Juanita Tangerine
Poncirus trifoliata
Campbell Valencia (non Hardy)

***Planted outside - in ground and protected!
Thanks, Greg

Hi Greg. As you know Citranges are crosses between the trifoliate orange and the sweet orange. Of all the early hybrids none produced fruit good enough to be sold commercially, mainly due to the off flavors produced from the Trifoliate parentage. Tom McClendon, in his book "Citrus Varieties For The Southeast" list CiTemple Edible, a cross with a Temple Orange, as one cultivar worth seeking out. He states, "...that reportedly CiTemple Edible has almost no trifoliate off flavors." CiTemple Edible is a variety that will probably be hard to locate. - Millet
