One more development over the weekend, was hoping for some input...
I have a 2 story house. The prev owner added a 12X8 room at the rear SE corner of the house. As an afterthought, he screened in, and tin roofed the upper story of that buildout and installed a door from the bedroom to that porch.
It is SE facing. Mostly east with windows facing S and E since it is on the corner of the bldg. I have acquired 14 nice double pane sliding glass doors for practically nothing. I am wondering if i could improve this space to further my addiction. remember, I live in Minnesota
The room is offf my 4 year old son's room, so it could be very educational for him as well. I was thinking a western cedar frame with glass doors for a pitched roof, and glass walls with down to about knee level, solid wood below. I would put some kind of aut vent system on the roof, and could take interior air supply in the winter to help keep things warm. thoughts? ideas? I do know that i could increase it to 12x16 making et even more south facing. I would simply put a "covered" patio behind the lower story punch out room, and it's roof would become the extended floor of my sunroom addition. that might have to wait till later...proff of concept first.
Oh yes...the roof odf the house is such tha the roof line of the addition would have to run E/W..i guess that is probably a good thing to have the glass roof slope facing south?
