Is there any material or some experience on grafting ornages over limes and or lemons. Is there a big flavor difference?
Or does the rootstock do anything to change the quality of flavor?

I recall that Dr. Manners once mentioned rough lemon as producing a vigorous tree with dilute, watery tasting fruit. In my limited experience all of the poncirus rootstocks seem to be about the same so far as flavor is concerned.

My Lisbon lemon is my main cocktail tree--the rootstock is trifoliate, but I grafted about a dozen varieties on it 3 or 4 yrs ago. Several of them produced fruit for the first time last season--the Hamlin orange was very good. I don't have a non-lemon version to compare it to, but I can't imagine it being much sweeter.

I don't know if the fact that this is a lemon interstock vs a rootstock makes the difference, but I am guessing it does.

I think Buddah's hand can do ok on any rootstock, you probably need to start with a good rootstock choice for your climate and soil type, if you are planting into your garden soil. Are Citrus grown in your area ? What rootstocks are in use ? If you are growing in pots, you may not have to use a cold tolerant/dormant type rootstock. A vigorous rootstock should give you faster growing plants, Citrange, Swingle, Rough Lemon, Sour Orange should be ok, depending on soil type.
