Do Centennial kumquats grow true from seed? Also, are the nursery specimens typically grafted? I was in FL and looking for a meiwa, but was unsuccessful and ended up with the centennial, my third choice as I consider it more of a landscape plant. I tried one of the fruits today and it wasn't as bad as I expected. I emailed the grower three months ago and got no response.

No the Centennial kumquat doesn't come true from seed. Very few variegated citrus do.
It is a superbly ornamental variety and commonly grown as a potted plant.
In my non-citrus climate it tastes just like other kumquats - too sour to enjoy!

Thanks Citrange, I suspected as much. It's a real nice looking tree but I'll probably look into trading it for a meiwa.

Thanks Millet, most of the garden centers here only stock nagami.
