After mixing and applying a gallon to 8 different trees, I think it might be more efficient to just dust the ground with a few spoonfuls. Is that what other do when they have a large amount to fertilize?

The rule of thumb for citruses is to apply 1 cup Magnesium sulfate for every 4 cups Nitrogen. So if you applied

If you are talking about trees growing in the ground, I just throw a handfull around the drip line of the trees.

I was reading this forum and I am new to citrus trees and just bought a couple. The nursery I got it from told me to use miracle gro and miracid and alternate every other time and use it once a week and diluate it. Millet do you have any suggestions?

Hello I am new to this citrus thing. I just bought a couple of citrus trees and the nursery told me I should use miracle-gro and miracid and alternate them. Water and fertilize once a week but dilute it because they are indoors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There is no need to purchase two or more types of fertilizer. Citrus trees are heavy feeders, and require fertilizing a minimum of once a month. Many growers fertilize their trees every two weeks. I fertilize my trees with every watering, as does the CCPP trees at the University of California at Riverside. Citrus require a fertilizer with higher amounts of nitrogen and potassium, and a smaller amount of phosphorus. The optimum ratio (not formula) of NPK elements is 5-1-3. I use a 25-5-15 W/trace miners, some growers use 30-10-10 W/trace minerals. Whatever fertilizer you use be sure that it contains trace minerals. Good luck, and welcome to the Citrus Growers Forum. - Millet (1,374-)

The best I have found for my situation is Vigoro sold at Home depot. You can view the PDF below.

No it is granules. You can mix it in with your potting mix, or sprinkle it on the surface. It does contain minors.

Same thing.

Most of my trees are in the ground. I have some in large containers that get put in the garage for a day or two when we have freezing temps to protect them. They are citrons, Australian citrus and limes mostly.
