Took a ride over to the BF&CG Sunday and found the banana grove looking pretty good, but I suspect it is not being watered or fertilized like it should be. Anyway, I said in a previous message that I would post the pictures. The bananas pictured were the only varieties fruiting so far, but I am sure others will bloom shortly. I may have mentioned earlier, but it bears repeating here, it is my understanding that that area experienced temperatures in the neighborhood of 18-19 degrees, so it gives you an idea of some of the varieties that will take the cold. In addition to the ones posted here, I have Ice Cream and Dwarf Namwah at home, which survived our winter here (24 degrees) and are growing well in the summer heat.

I think I must have reached the limit for images on this post. I have one or two more that I might post later.

Those are terrific, Ned! Thanks!

Did any of the Viente Cohol make it through the winter?

Thanks Keith.

Viente Cohol will not make it through the winter unless it is protected. Its claim to fame is that it is a short season banana. If planted out in April or May, and given good care, it will fruit consistantly in the year planted. Therefore the pups can be held over in a protected enviroment, and planted the following spring.
