My poor guava was doing so good with new growth and now I am afraid it is dying. I have stratched the stem and it is still green. I have been watering the guava the same as my citrus. My leaves are turning a bruised look before drying out and falling off. Can this poor little thing be saved?

Did you recently re pot ? seems to be a large tub for the size of the plants stem ?
I suspect root problems ie the container media is staying too damp between waterings and the plant is too small to pump much water from the pot.
As the pot dries out a bit between waterings, it should feel lighter. If it is always heavy cool and damp, you may need to watch the watering, and move the pot to a warmer position. Probably fungicide treatment will be necessary to keep it from further decline.

It has been in that pot for about 6 months. It was the only pot I had around at the time. It was doing great. I had new little branches and tons of leaves that reached the inside edge of the pot. I keep it a small greenhouse (5 shelves with a cover) in my kitchen by a south facing window with my citrus. I also have a pan of water on the bottom shelf for humidity. I have a sail cloth over the window so the plants get light but not direct rays that could burn the leaves. I water about every 1-1 1/2 weeks when the top inch or so is dry. I will try to check the roots tonight to see if they are still good.

ok, I checked my guava last night and found that (I had help with the planting of my trees) the root ball was tightly packed and was not seperated when planted in the pot. I washed off as much of the dirt with warm water I could and seperated the roots. The roots were not all white, some were red to brown color. I am not sure what color they should be. The main root was a nice milky color. I trimmed some more of the little branches that I thought were dead. I few were hollow but still were green inside. I now have the plant under a plant light. Still not sure if it will make it. If not I will try again.
