Although my success rate has greatly improved, I just unwrapped 10 buds I did about 3 weeks ago. All but 2 took. I removed one of the buds and rewrapped the "wound" with parafilm. I read I could place another bud ijn the spot, but, the wool is tinted orange and I just can't figure how that'd work? What should I do? By the way, these were all on the rootstock seedlings...

Just leave it alone & it will callus over. No you can not put another bud in there. Once the rootstock start s growing again and the bark is slipping you can bud again in a different place.

That's what I thought! When I googled "what to do...", there was an exerpt from a book for sale saying you could put another back in...made no sense to me... Thanks Laaz!

The nice thing is about t-budding, by moving to a different space you have several places ton the root stock that can be tried again. I like to fertilize the root stock lightly several weeks before t-budding. My choice on budding tape is the chip budding tape. In the spring I leave the tape on 3 weeks, in the fall the tape is left on 5 weeks.

I think if T-budding falied, then a try in chipping or cleft grafting would pay ...

I agree that you can't T-bud in the same place.
When a bud fails, I remove it and wrap the area very tightly with budding tape. This helps to close the original flaps of bark over the wound. If it is just left alone, I find it takes much longer to heal, and sometimes leaves a permanent patch of missing bark.

well, I can be very lucky if it is that in 4 years ...

Citrus seam to grow like weeds in CA and FL ...
