Good evening,

I've read somewhere that Shekwasha could be used as rootstock.
Someone tried ? What could be the consequences concerning the growth of the graft ?
Shekwasha as rootstock could be interesting for growing plants in container because it's root system doesn't show a huge taproot like Poncirus trifoliata.
Last year, I sowed the two species at the same time, in the same medium. Here's the result. Left Shekwasha, right Poncirus trifoliata.

A taproot is interesting for plants in ground, but for growing plants in container, no taproot seems to be a advantage. No node of roots if you forget your plant in the container, no need to prune big roots when you repot the plant...
A "nice" node of roots...

Someone already made observations concerning the root system of the known rootstocks ?

I hope you understood what I meant.
Regards
Lionel

I grew some seedlings a while ago, all were fairly uniform, no interesting variants. I used them as rootstocks in 1 litre tube pots, still going fine, yet to pot them up further. Seems similar to other 'mandarin' rootstocks, ie cleopatra mandarin.
Concerning growth of the graft, could be more or less compatable with various scions, seem a google search on your topic gives quite a few results, so maybe you can research what combinations are successful ?
