Scary for citruses because it is unusually warm maximum temperature and the citruses could be enticed to have an early flush. What is scary is that the arctic blast that have a big chance of hitting us sometime within the next 15 days. Winter isn't over yet. Even if it will be above 32 deg F, it could fry my citruses.
This year so far, while we did not encounter any blast from the arctic as of today, we have the most chilling hours for the past 7 years, more than last year's.
My Flavorella, Royal Rosa, Goldkist, Satsuma, Vesuvius, Hollywood, Flavor Queen, Flavorosa, Dapple Dandy and other pluots are about to burst open. Hoping that the forecast will be true as predicted, then it will be a tremendous fruit set this year.
One late arctic blast could change all that. It is a very dicey global climate.
