I've been in an odd mood lately so I'll start:

1. "It is what it is" - this seems a phrase to use when you want to resign things to the way they are and don't intend to work to make it better. Very infuriating if you hear a doctor say this phrase.

2. "My bad" - who knows where this one came from, I just find it annoying.

3. "Everything happens for a reason" coupled with "God's plan" etc. seems another phrase where we are supposed to resign ourselves to our fate or someone else's plan. Don't people ever wonder what millions of people in death camps in WWII would have thought of this phrase?

4. "Life is what you make it" - also seems an odd choice given how many people are kidnapped, raped, killed, etc. by other people. Being a victim doesn't really give you much choice to make it better does it?

5. "Sun-kissed, flame-kissed, etc." What's next Flame-hugged? Sun-snuggled???

6. Food products with excessive or redundant wording, ex. Double Vanilla. Seriously how did I ever live on French Vanilla or just Vanilla before?

'The exception that proves the rule.'

What does that even MEAN? If there's some big exception, then doesn't that mean that maybe the rule is wrong? People inevitably pull this one out when I'm winning a debate with them, and it drives me nuts.

"Life is what you make it'.......... This phrase is true, life is what you make of it. Don't look for the exceptions. (rape, kidnapped). There are exceptions to every rule ever made, but they don't change the rules validity.- Millet (525-)

To me that prase doesn't mean if you work hard you'll achieve your goals, it means that what happens can't be changed but how you react to it is up to you.

Amen Brother

The phrase that gets me is

WHATEVER

Excuse me you might as well give me the finger. If I'm bothering you that much just tell me I'll find somebody else to talk to.

"My bad", usually said by somone who has no thought of excepting any responsibility is a close second.

Of course the real irony of that phrase is that it came from Ronald Reagan, a governmental figure, who then declared that he'd help by reducing the amount of government.
