Considering adding a Fina Sodea Clementine mandarin to my collection. Does anyone have this, and if so, what are your opinions? I believe this was originally from Morocco. Here is the information from UC Riverside:

Love some feedback, opinions, etc.

To me the clementines all taste the same. I have a large Clemenules clementine that Benny sent me budwood for years ago. The tree is loaded with fruit which should start ripening next month.

I have a 10 year old Fina Sodia Clementine. Of the 50 or so citrus trees that I have growing, the Fina Sodia tree has ALWAYS given me the highest level of trouble with bugs. Aphids absolutely go right past my other trees and take up residence on the Fina. This happens every year. I spray that tree more than any of the other 50 varieties. Two days after spraying they show up again time after time. I have come close at times getting rid of the tree. Lastly, I agree with Laaz, most all Clementines taste pretty much alike. If you have one clementine you have all of them. - Millet

Wow, isn't that so funny, Millet. I have the same issue with a few of my trees and CLM. Even with new flush, there are a few varieties that are always hit harder. Other trees they almost skip. And, I have Clemnules that is delicious, one of my favorite mandarins. It is also full of fruit, and it is one of my tiny Four Winds trees. It is just so prolific. I am going to try to fertilize it a bit more next year. It reminds me of my lemons - just sets a ton of fruit. That, and my Page and my Gold Nugget are also prolific producers.

I'd recommend clementine de nules. I have fina sodea and algerian and the de nules is more productive. As with satsumas all the clementines taste the same. Take your pick of other qualities besides taste.

I have a Clementine de Nules, and I love it to pieces. It was one of my first mandarins, it is planted right up close to my driveway, and again this year, even though it is probably only 2 feet tall (Four Winds on Cuban Shaddock), it is LOADED with fruit. I even thinned it some because it was ridiculously covered. It is amazing how large the fruits will get, even though there are so many. I do give it as much fertilizer as a tree twice its size, but I have only been fertilizing it 4 times a year. I'm either going to have to fertilize it more frequently, or really thin next year. Otherwise, it will never get much bigger, I fear! Embarassed
