Ok...this is going to come off as pretty rediculous. With all the relative effort and expens I have put into this endeavor, I have never actually eaten the varieties I have...with the single exception of the humble Washington navel. That all changed this afternoon! I just ate a pixie..actually, I ate about 10 or 12 of them. Wow...I cannot wait to try satsuma, page kishu, and gold nugget. Are they all this fantastic?

The fresh stuff picked off your tree is a whole lot better that the same stuff you buy in the stores.

I was lucky enough to get a handful from ojai...these had to have come off the trees in late summer. I had no clue they kept so well given that it is October. They are so yummy. Not much to look at though...

We actually live right next to Ojai and they don't start picking until after Labor Day... the Limoneira orchard are nearby as well. We are VERY spoiled these are our vendors at our farmers markets. Smile

And, yes... I agree with Laaz, they are all that good! Congratulations on all your hard work "paying off"!

I've had calamansi, sour orange, and several different lemons & limes (mostly from my friend Tom's trees) and YES, the fruit we pick off our trees taste sooo much better than what you buy. It's hard for me to go back to store-bought lemons & limes for instance. Luckily I visit Tom a lot and get a fresh supply each trip. Wink
