I just bought some material to use to cover my trees in case of frost. It was in a package labled Frost Blanket and is 6' x 50'. The material is a spun polyester, it is lightweight and transmits 98% of light. I got the package at HD for $15.
I found out about this material on a gardening website where it was called a floating row cover and is used to cover row crops. It is used to cover frost sensitive crops, but is also used to keep insects off the crops and reduce insecticide use. I wonder if it would work to keep miners out-- I'm thinking about making small sleeves to slip over fulshes on smaller trees.
