Was up and about since 2:00 am PDST today, and there's not much activity in this forum. Are you guys on vacation? |

Went to Disneyland and fishing then am changing the tiles in 2 bathrooms and kitchen. Learn as I go on. Home Depot people are patient with me from asking too many questions and I bought 2 books- How to Install Tiles and How to do Plumbing. Am taking advantage with my 3 kids. They are on vacation right now.
I asked Floor Depot how much for the installation and it floored me. I end up installing them myself.
BTW we will be at Marysville on July 15 for another Regional Karate Tournament.

Holidays or not, people aren't posting here very much lately it seems.
I get done with my work & come on here about 9:30-10 pm & after that seems like no one posts -- sometimes the entire day -- NOTHING! But then it IS SUMMER and everyone is on vacations & doing stuff.
Joe, you need more sleep .
Benny, I coulda/woulda helped you w/ answers about tileing so you wouldn't have to buy books. The hardest part is finding the starting point & making sure everything is level/plumb so tiles are even.
Hey, I could be on a Do It Yourself forum-- "Ask Patty" LMAO, but no time to answer what I know about - at least lately. AND, no one would ask LOL.
From the City Of Festivals (Milwaukee, Wi), I hope y'all had a great July 4th holiday. Hope most of you heard of our Summerfest (?). I tell you, opening day of Summerfests' fireworks are the best anywhere! I can see them from front of my house! I can hear the people roar when fierworks are over. And then, July 3rd fierworks (few days later).. set off on the same grounds... amazingly all continuous for over 45 minutes! Not just one or 2 at a time & wait for the next like when I was a kid, but like 10 -20 at a time non stop continuous. If you ever get a chance, come here for summerfest, or Italian Fest, or German Fest, or Greek fest, or Polish fest, Irish Fest, African fest (never been there) & ETC. Each one goes on for 4 days every wkend ( other than 10 day summerfest) and they all have their own fireworks. People from those countries come here for them. Great ethnic foods too. I myself, haven't been there for 4 yrs because of the crowds & just been too busy. But I did have a good time. _________________ Patty

Patty:
Thank you for your offer. But oh, yes, how did you find where to start Patty. I know my floor is level and I already installed wonderboard and tiled it but I just guess where I started, right in the center but I have another bathroom and kitchen to do.
Thanks in advance.
For me the hardest part is the wear and tare of my ole little knees. Heh-heh. And I not only bought the books but every conceivable tools that I might need. But I need not worry. Home Depot is very linient to having to return their products as long as they were not used.

Just a note, my computer at home has been non existant, old one died about 6 weeks ago and been doing some pricing and knew the one I wanted and finally broke down and paid the money yesterday and will be back in business there as soon as my brother comes over and hooks me up, so only means on communicating is here at work, when not too busy. I do sometimes just read the sections to gain knowledge and be a mouse in the corner _________________

This is the time of year you just sit back (with a case of Corona) and watch your citrus grow... This time of year I'm spending most of my free time trying to keep the potted stuff alive. We have been in the 90's for so long (with a heat index above 100) I can't wait till November... |

Laaz, I'd love to see a pic or 2 of your deck that is prolly done now? I wish I made mine bigger now...it's loaded with plants!
Benny, use a chalk line from corner to corner to get the center point --a big X. Then put 4 tiles down so that the points/corners meet at center of X. Then, (what I did) lay a row of them to walls (like a +) And adjust the edges at walls so that you won't have to cut tiles at wall sides on all 4 sides. So that 2 sides will be full sized tiles at wall & the opposite ends of those, just cut them to fit up to wall. They should have directions for this at tile stores. This way will be less tiles to cut. I WANT TO SEE PICS _________________ Patty

Joe: What an impressive pictures. Thanks for posting and for the tip. But I am afraid we won't have time to see them because the trip alone is 3 and a half hours from my house. And the tournament is according to the direction is on Hwy-70. It may take time to look for the address also.
With your offer to see your new addition who can not refuse? I will try my hardest to do it . I'll call you if I can OK? If you are not home it's OK also.
Patty: Oh, good. Thanks for reminding me. I did not think about taking pictures but I will from now on.
Why did I not think of that? I made a bunch of mistakes but it still look pretty. I think.
I have the hardest time cutting the tiles with a diamond blade ( too rough edges and then the tile saw (too slow) but I settled with my wet tile saw to cut a round big hole for the commode. |

Patty:
I just took a quick photo of my mona lisa work. heh-heh. I still have a lot of things to do like new plumbing, grout etc....but here it is.
I also notice there's a broken trim tile which shows in the picture but never notice it. Good. I'd have to change that.
Thanks to all your tips.
